Flashforwards. Real and Imaginary Spaces of Collective Viewing

Poster of the seminar "Flashforwards. Real and Imaginary Spaces of Collective Viewing"

Cinema is not just a physical space; it is also a socio-technical apparatus that is shaped by practices, economies and desires. This workshop will explore real and imagined cinemas throughout history, from early venues to multiplexes and today’s community screens, as well as unrealised and speculative designs. By exploring collective viewing practices, we may be able to imagine how cinemas will continue to evolve.
